Imma Be Straight...Fine Art vs Performing Arts

Let me get this straight right now. I admire both. I envy the fine artists because it does take a whole lot to create such things out of nothing but what's in their heads.

Just a little rant before I begin. When did pursuing art as a career or a hobby become so ...well somewhat looked down upon? Hundred of years ago people would commission artists and musicians to create great works of art. A lot of them going down in history and still influence our daily lives today. It is because of art and music we have a rich history we can look back on. In may cultures in the past, a woman would be rated not only in her duties as a wife but in the arts that she pursued if the family can afford it. It's sad now that most parents would rather embrace the so called high title jobs than nurture any gifts such as those. If they do...it's performing arts.

Performing arts includes, dancing, singing, acting and any type of musical instrument. Personally, I was schooled in piano and flute. I love dancing as a side thing more than anything in the world. I don't think I'm good at all in fact I don't think I've ever mastered a whole chereography. I just haven't put in the time and effort to do that between life, school and photography. Just I never forget the beat and the way my body moves when I listen to music. To go pro is hard, yes I know that. I know several pianist and violinist, who study in school majoring in it, wondering where they're going. And I see geniuses touring the world giving performances many can only dream of and have opportunities people could only work so hard for. That's in music the classical world. I'm not sure about singing and music artist but I would assume by our culture people worship these kinds of people. And it seems everyone can try to get into the business with a good voice and good looks. There are some artist who aren't the 'standard' but I find their voice enthralling and appreciate them much more. Because in the end it's the music one makes that counts. As for dancing....heh..I wish we had more limelight mostly we're in the background because we 'can't' sing. I still love the art of dancing because it's something I can use anytime and anywhere. I could be using the music in my head just to speak what I want to express. I guess you could with singing too but I can't sing so I'll be satisfied with that.

Fine arts. When I think of it, it's something I can never achieve to do well in. Something I could enjoy looking at but never immerse myself because it frustrates me to even execute it. It's not easy to create something with anything but my own self or a piano. Yes I have photography, but many would say that's the easiest of art, which is true. It is. I admire those who can paint, draw, create mold use something with their hands. Yet, it's so much harder for them to gain any creditability. I guess with technology that's what happens. It's why animation has gained so much attention. It's in film now and a slow decline of hand drawn animations has taken place. My favorite would be Miyazaki films. His hand drawn work amaze me and it's so colorful and vibrant add the fact he takes people in these fantasy worlds creating amazing stories. It's breathtaking to me.

So why the decline in interest in arts in general? That I can't explain. Maybe fine arts. I know I will be stepping on some toes but I'm going to say it anyways restating though. Reminding everyone though, I myself enjoy fine arts as much as performing arts. I think it's about when it's made. Most people see the finish product in fine arts. It's something more personal to artist themselves. As to performing artists, the process of their art can be seen over and over and over again. A person can at least one who doesn't know what hard work goes into a painting or drawing, can easily understand a dance or a song or even a play. Fine arts are much more complex and more depth into a person's personality.

Something interesting I found about performing artist. THey are ...slightly arrogant. Which could attest to their slight superficial performances when they're on stage. I guess one can say fine arts show a vulnerable side of a person. And that is something people have lost touched with in these past few hundred years. To look deeper than the performance people show on the outside.

Agree with me or not but it's just my personal opinion. But it's why as much as I love to dance and play music, I admire fine artists a lot more.

About

How should I describe myself? Should I go into a long rant about me and what I like? Or is a list easier for your eyes? I think a small paragraph should do.

Music is my passion with modern Asian music, such as k-pop, j-pop and j-rock etc., writing is my joy and photography is my growing love. Food is the best way to socialize and fashion is my way to know that I put my shirt on correctly.
