Enough about the taste. Why are these getting popular? It's foreign, fancy something you don't get to encounter in common grocery stores. Just like tiramisu. (More on tiramisu later in a separate post.)
Of all the treats I could have ate in Little Tokyo (tiramisu..roll cake...) I picked up for myself two macaron. They weren't cheap..no not for those little round things. 'lette macarons was the shop I went to. Was it worth it? For a small snack I did not want to break calories with I would say yes. Would I want tiramisu? Yes of course, but that day I decided to go another route. The flavors there I will say were interesting. Most of my friends were getting chocolate while I chose and unconventional route with lychee and earl grey. The taste I would say you could smell it in your mouth. Would I eat it more? I think macarons are one of those things that are for decoration rather than to eat.
