EXO Echoing

EXO-M, a six member group that is one part of another group called EXO-K. I'll start with a good story. A while back a producer in SM Entertainment had an idea for a group to transcend boundaries between the world and Korea. He decided that he would make a twelve member group that would be divided into two groups, one that debut in Korea and the other in China. He started recruiting for these two groups making sure in each respective group they were Chinese or Korean. Finally after numerous teasers spread around youtube and television (There were many I was ignoring most because I was just waiting for the freakin music video to come out. Impatient little one.) they debuted on the same day at the same time. @_@ Okay same day and time? I thought there were time differences between Korea and China.

EXO-M and EXO-K. I don't think I can really separate the two because for the most part they do the same songs just in two different languages and just cause they have different members for each unit, it doesn't dispute the fact they haven't diverge from their translating selves. The EXO group really incorporates what SM Entertainment often does with large groups. Looks...many looks to please the fans. Musically I think they echo what Super Junior did when they were younger. (Can anyone say replacement when all of the start to go into enlistment?) I remember Don't Don and EXO's first single MAMA has definite loud similarities to them. Their choreography is amazing I will give them that. Such an improvement on SM Entertainment's part. Since they've only three singles out I can't give a definitive where they are going musically. I fear sometimes they are just another formula group for SM Entertainment. Then again they can prove me wrong. (And I hope they do..they are an group to look out for this year for the rookies.)

I still am disturbed by the fact this looks like a cult.
I do hope for their sake each of the units will show individual unit talents musically someday. I know it's a good business move to have two groups in two countries, but in order to truly make EXO-M successful I think it would do them well to make their own songs. At any rate, their chant 'We are one.' I can appreciate it. It's a sign Korea would like to make peace and have relations with China.

Presenting EXO-M!!
