Exo came back with a theatre type music video and has followed up with a plain dance music video. Plain? Let's take a look at Growl.
Last week I talked about how SM Entertainment was famous for the box set music videos. By all standards of this music video it's just another one of those types of videos. Except for the fact that this one was taken to the next level. I'm going to talk a little more about the music video before I get to the music. It's clear that this place is all one place. The camera is panning across the room back and forth and around almost like it was taken in one shot. Actually, the whole music video was done in one take. Yes there are no pauses to showcase other members to one pan in and out of the group. The effect, a very professional home video. Any mistakes are in there, if any. What makes it interesting how in sync the camera moves to their choreography. It seems this type of box set music video was a success.
As for the music paired with the video. In short it gets seriously repetitive. I give props for SM for trying. On its own I would like the music. It seems since this group is new SM Entertainment is investing a lot of new things into this group to make sure they are a success. If that's the case then they are succeeding. I'm sure, though, later in their career they will need a strong image of what they are and what kind of music they want to show.
